LIFE

September 21, 2011 Mind & Soul No Comments

“I’m not very good
At this Game called Life
For I’ve not learned to see children crying
Without feeling pain
For I’ve not learned to watch animals destroyed
Without wondering why
For I’ve not yet met a king or a celebrity
That I would bow down to
Or a man so insignificant
That I would use for a stepping-stone
For I’ve not learned to be a ‘yes man’
To narrow minded bosses
Who quote rules without reason
And I’ve not learned to manipulate
The feelings of others
To be used for my own advantages
Then cast aside as I see fit
No, I’m not very good
At this Game called Life
And if everything goes well
Maybe I never will be.”

Ha!

Laughter sparks conversation. It breaks the mode of silence and incites comic relief. Your tension fades and the appreciation of life starts to unfold. It should come in handy when in doubt or distress. Although you may not notice it, laughter is medicine that fuels the heart with nutrition for its zest of life.

Second Chances

April 20, 2011 Mind & Soul No Comments

I often wonder how many of us sit in small spaces and wish for deliverance, but miss the opportunity when given to us. Do you know we’re given a second chance to change our life? It is in the form of a new day and if blessed to see it, take advantage. There is a time and place to rewrite all of your mistakes and create memorable experiences; I call this the upside of life.  We weren’t born to be superior, but instead, leaders where our humility and patience shine. Our guiding principle is faith and with it, nothing is impossible to hope or dream. let’s be mindful of how we use our time. Don’t just sit there and let your fears drive you into resentment. Create the path! It is never too late to follow your dreams.

It’s a new year, make it count!

We Only Complain About That Which We Can Change

July 14, 2010 Mind & Soul 2 Comments

Quotes are dope b/c they sum up a feeling in a line. Some are cliche (the best ones are) but most hit the nail on the coffin. I think it is human nature to  acomplain/vent. We feel a certain way and want someone to empathize w/ our situation. Girls do this a lot and have bad habits of not doing anything to change their situations: “I’m fat” or “I always go for the wrong guys” or “I really want to be a [insert dream job here]“. Now, of course guys do the same: whine about the girl we like but don’t have the balls to say something to her, or that we get no girls because [insert annoying habit/trait here] and wonder how come it’s hard to meet the right type of girl for u, or we’re unmotivated to leave a job b/c of its comfortability (goes for both sexes) but complain about it everyday. My favorite complaint: whine/moan/bitch/COMPLAIN about a gf/bf/wife/husband and how horrible/inconsiderate/annoying/nagging/bitchy/jerky he or she is, YET the alternative is loneliness, so they stay together for whatever reason [kids, dont wanna meet new people aka laziness, "used to it", apathy, accepted ones "fate'].

“we only complain about that which we can change”

It really comes down to what makes you happy vs. what makes you feel secure. Most would rather be secure than happy b/c happiness is fleeting and can leave anytime, while security aint goin’ nowhere whether you are happy or not. So if you are secure and not happy, keep it to yourself. Some of us are happy flying by the seat of our pants…for now

FEEL ALIVE INDULGE THROUGH FAITH: an ongoing journey

FEEL ALIVE INDULGE THROUGH HOPE: an ongoing journey

Living in faith is sometimes the hardest thing to do. You want to see the bigger picture, but feel as though it is nonexistent. I’ve struggled for 3 years to find balance in being a fully fledged adult, and even encountered moments of doubt where I felt this stage of life wasn’t meant for me. Although I made it thus far, it was by the skin of my teeth.

There are so many variables I wish, someone could have told me to avoid, but instead, I just keep going through them like a lost puppy. I laugh every time something goes wrong just because that is all you can do. I don’t believe in adding big words to describe my life story so, I won’t. I also like the creative flow that takes place in the dark. As I look outside of my window, I notice the lack of stars tonight and only hear honking horns, salsa music and Spanish Harlem.

Welcome to my world folks! A 28 year old woman who has not gotten it together since birth—but, she maintains her positive aura.

I don’t have a number of pages to tell this story, but I do have an experience to share and that is being an adult. You go to school, and then search for employment with hopes of making a difference in the world, only to find a semi-decent job with high demands and a low salary. You either hate it or go with the flow of things depending on the weather and sometimes, want to tell your coworker to kiss your arse. Yep, that’s being an adult for you–oh, but let’s not forget about the dreams, aspirations and goals part. You set a budget in which you hardly ever follow and dream of one day breaking a career record and being the world’s lifesaver–yep, that ‘s also a part of the adulthood plan. So what happens when you want to hop off the train of life for some fresh air? You just hold onto faith with both hands and close your eyes no matter how fast it’s going because in due time, you will reach your destination.
