Tip #1: Everyone wants to know the secret to not crying while cutting an onion. Drum roll, please…(drumming on desk) The key is…a sharp knife and a cold onion! By keeping your knife sharp and your onion cold, you can keep the sulfur compounds in the onion that prompt you to cry to a minimum.
Tip #2: The quickest way to peel and mince garlic is to smash the clove with the broad part of your knife. This gets the skin off. By smashing the clove again and running your knife through the clove, you can get a nice small chop for your garlic.
Tip #3: A sharp knife is the key to all things you have to cut!! If you have a good sharp knife, you won’t need a bunch of other knives to cut various things. Not to mention that it will prevent you from hurting yourself by cutting through things too hard!
Tip #4: If you want a quick and easy air freshener for your home, spike a few oranges or grapefruits with a cinnamon stick and cloves. Place in a bowl and leave in the table in the center of any room. The pleasant aroma will permeate the room for weeks to come!
Keep checking back for more tips of the trade and other really cool foodie items! =0)
