Ugly Girls > Pretty Girls (Who’s the Bigger Freak?)

October 28, 2010 Question of the Day 9 Comments

Before I even get into this brutally honest convo, let me start by saying that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So when I use the terms “ugly” and “pretty” they’re all relative. Now that that’s out of the way, let’s begin…

The other day my co-worker and I got into a conversation about “pretty” girls. If you recall my “Are Pretty Girls Wack in the Sack?” post, you’ll know that when I use that adjective I’m not necessarily referring to someone’s physical attributes but a specific type of woman (or, in the case of the ladies, a guy).

Anyway, we had just finished interviewing former video vixen turned rapper Gloria Velez (two weeks prior we were doing the same with Lola Monroe f.k.a Angel Lola Luv #FTW) and found it refreshing that two beautiful woman could have such nice personalities.

I’ve actually had similar conversations with other guys before about “pretty” girls and the general consensus is that they don’t have the best personalities. So when you come across and extremely hot girl that’s cool as sh*t, it’s usually quite surprising. As much as we wish things would be different, most people judge a book by its cover and when that cover is a model-like body you’re usually expecting either an airhead or a stuck-up chick.

#JustBeingHonest

In fact, a while back my boy Carl did a post about how pretty chicks just aren’t funny (sorry, I couldn’t find the link), which furthered the belief amongst a lot of men that the more attractive the woman the less personality she has. The thinking is because of their looks, “pretty” girls never really had to do much to get attention, as guys always chased after them and things were just handed to her. Yes, it’s a big generalization but there’s probably some truth to it.

From there, my boy commented that, “An ugly girl has to have a good personality, otherwise she’s f*cked.” He was basically saying that if you were someone that was “genetically unfortunate” (© GangStarrGirl) and had a bad personality on top of that, there was no way people were going to mess with you. His theory was that “ugly” folks usually build up strong personalities (funny, nice, etc.) to compensate for what they lack in looks, while an attractive person with a bad attitude will get more passes because of their looks. (i.e. A “pretty” person getting out of a speeding ticket).

Think about that one for a second and you might see some truth. I’ve seen it plenty of times where a dime drops a tissue and men run from across the street to retrieve it for her, while the butter face chick drops her groceries right in front of a dude and he just stares as her oranges roll down the block.

As with any discussion about women amongst men, the subject of sex came up and I explained the counterpoint to my “Are Pretty Girls Wack in the Sack?” post and that’s the belief that the stereotypical “ugly” girls (and even BBWs) are usually the biggest freaks. I find that to be true for two main reasons:

1) Chances are they have sex less often and are backed up. Since they don’t know when next time they’ll get some again will be, they give it their all anytime they get laid. #Kudos

2) Again, they have to be good in bed because they’re making up for what they’re lacking in looks. Besides, if a dude is embarrassed by your looks or just that shallow, you better be putting it down in the bedroom for him to want to come back for seconds (and thirds…).

I actually had a conversation about point No. 2 during an interview with porn star Brian Pumper a few weeks ago. He agreed that “ugly girl pucci is the best” and said that he got a couple homeboys that “got a baby by an ugly b*tch.” (His words not mine).

I mean, we’ve all seen genetically unfortunate people walking around pregnant or with kids so somebody is sleeping with them and it’s obviously not for their looks. So that gives more credence to my belief that they’re either freaks in the bedroom or have great personalities.

At the end of the day, the latter is what matters most. Despite the shallow nature of this post thus far, it all leads to this point: Personality trumps looks any day.

After my co-worker and I discussed the pros and cons of “ugly” girls vs. “pretty” girls, I posed the following: Would you rather have a pretty wife that had a bad attitude, or a woman that wouldn’t win any beauty pageants but treated you right as your wife? The answer was a no-brainer: I’ll take the woman with the winning personality for a lifetime, Alex. #JeopardyReference

While men are generally visual creatures that think with what’s between their legs more than what’s between their ears, a true thinking man understands looks can last but so long. God forbid your arm candy wife with the stank attitude gets in an accident where her beauty gets taken away from her in a flash. All you’d be left with is an ugly b*tch—inside and out.

Have you found that “genetically unfortunate” people are usually bigger freaks than their “pretty” counterparts? Are you just as surprised when you meet an attractive person who has a great personality? Do you expect attractive people to be stuck-up and have stank attitudes? How often do you judge a book by its cover? Do you find that attractive people usually get away with things easier? Would you sleep with someone that wasn’t the most attractive physically but had a great personality? Would you be ashamed to have a child by an “ugly” person? Would you rather have a spouse that was attractive but had a bad attitude, or an unattractive mate that treated you right? How important are looks to you?

Speak your piece…
