Jack Frost Nipped at My Nose and Skin!!!
I often wonder if other women or makeup wearers have the same issues as I with a term I coined “extra light-skinned in the winter” skin. My early research shows the sun is further away from the Earth during the winter months, making skin more dry due to lack of moisture in the air, yes folks humidity is good for your skin…have you NOT been to a steam room? However, as I researched more (thank you Google), I had to find out why myself and my lighter shade colleagues always look a little wan when it’s “Seasons Greetings” time. After combing through a number of webpages, and “boolean terms” , I discovered there’s really no wild scientific reasons behind it, just a lack of sun exposure.
After I got that out the way, I sent out a “smoke signal” tweet to all my makeup artist buddies about how to combat the “extra light-skinned in the winter” syndrome, and surprisingly I received tips from the everyday woman; which was great for me and of course, you!
Since the majority of us are not fabulous makeup artists – well maybe in our sexy minds – I thought it be beneficial to share the tips and tricks from my Twitter girls….and I have pics! Feel free to follow them at your leisure.
Tips
Both @desireeallday and @MentalOrgasm (pictures shown respectively) mix a bit of their regular foundation with their moisturizer for everyday wear. @MentalOrgasm states, “It also makes it look more natural on me. It gives me a ‘dewy’ look.”
Products
@Jenna-DizzMag, Editor-in-Chief of DizzMag.com suggests using Tarte tinted moisturizer,
which can be found online or at Sephora. She states, “[It's] my absolute favourite. The rest I’ve tried don’t actually ‘moisturize’.” A bit on the pricey side, Tarte tinted moisturizer is a lightweight, water-based formula that blends into the skin, while giving it a natural finish. For you naturalistas, Tarte products are paraben free and includes a couture line that’s “veggie friendly”.
Additionally, @desireeallday suggests using Dr. Hauschka’s Transculent Bronze.
Edging around the same price as Tarte, it gives your skin a sun-kissed glow, as well as blends in with body moisturizers and sunscreens. So if you’re looking to escape to a warmer climate during the winter months, Dr. Hauschka’s Transculent Bronze works well.
Lastly, @desireeallday suggests Bliss – Tan For All Seasons so that your body compliments your facial regimen.
Bliss – Tan For All Seasons gives your body a streakless, color-balanced tan, prevents color transfer, hydrates and protects the skin with aloe and apple extract, as well as dries in 5 minutes flat. Sounds like a great alternative to the beach.
