Classic Makeup

When you think of Classic…Classy…who do you think of?  I’m thinking that maybe  you picture your Grandma or Mom?  Yes?  Or, maybe one of those actresses from Hollywood…Marilyn maybe?  Halle? Who dammit!?

Anyway…A pouty red lip, picture perfect skin and sky high lashes have always been the key way to create a classic makeup look. We all remember Marilyn Monroe’s pin up look, the glamorous look with flawless skin. Wouldn’t we all love to create a classic look perfect for a night out? Here are some tips to help you create a va-va-voom look!

Impeccable Foundation

The most important element of achieving your perfect look is by having a good base for your makeup. Using foundation will help to even out your skin tone to create a canvas. If you have oily skin avoid using liquid foundations since majority of them give a dewy look, the oil that is naturally produced on your skin will just eat away the makeup. Instead, go for a powder foundation.

Be sure to not apply too much foundation, you don’t want a cake face. Use a stippling brush with liquid foundation such as the MAC 187 which is a duo fiber brush, this will evenly distribute the product and buff it into the skin.

Red Lips

There are so many red lipsticks out there, some with blue undertones and some warmer. The trick is to match the undertone of the lipstick shade with your skin tone. If you have cooler more paler skin, a bright orange tone red will suit you. Those with an olive tone skin, choose a warmer red. If you want to be bold, go for a bright blue tone red.

Winged Eyeliner

The best way to create a finished look is by using an eyeliner to create an extended wing. A winged eyeliner helps to give the illusion of longer eyes. There are a variety of eyeliners that you can use, such as gel, cake, liquid and pencil. Depending on how comfortable you are, opt for the eyeliner that best matches your capabilities. If you are new to using makeup, go for a soft kohl pencil eyeliner. You can easily create a smudgy liner look which can give the appearance of fuller lashes.
