Question of the day #6

Q.O.D.
Do you think its better to be single in the Summer?
Which is better, Sexy or Cute?
What do you think about mixing business and pleasure?
Some of us have bad days, bad weeks, even a bad month! Sometimes things don’t work out the way we want them to. Then the BIG, BAD THINGS happen and we question life: Why me? What did I do to deserve this? Then we mope and cry and talk about our problems all of the time to anyone who will listen. Before you start playing that role and begin acting like a victim, think about this:
1) If you continue to complain to everyone about your problems, no one will want to be around you. Playing the victim only gets sympathy points from strangers. Keep doing it, and you will alienate yourself from even the best of your friends and you will really go through what you’re going through, alone. So chill out. Re-evaluate.
2) Don’t panic. When things go wrong, think of it as losing your keys. (Stay with me) Retrace your steps and see where YOU went wrong. Besides not doing it again, this may help you get a game plan together.
3) Game plan time! I use a pen and paper for everything, including writing out a plan. If things are going wrong, sort it out. What’s the problem at hand? What are the proposed solutions? What are the pros and cons for going with (whatever solution you come up with)? It works for everything: love life, work, you name it. Try it before you knock it.
Sounds technical, but when you write it out, it takes the emotion out of it and calms you down. Then you can wipe you eyes and take control.
Only you can climb out of that hole. There is no fairy godmother that can magically appear and change the course of your life. Realize that you cannot do anything about yesterday, but you can fix tomorrow by what you do today. No one can live your life for you.
It will get better. Just take it one day at a time.

There are two kinds of women I see. Those women who are very much into their looks and those who care a little bit about how they look.
I was told by my ex-fiancée’, that I am very high maintenance and that was the reason (among other things), why we broke up. He said I was always ‘on’. At the time, I didn’t really know what that meant, but I sure do now.
Some women feel the need to go all out in their appearance for either personal enjoyment, significant other satisfaction or just to impress others. And some women don’t really care, stop caring or don’t see any significance with getting dolled up now that they’re married, in a relationship or neither.
I love a good fire engine red lipstick and I wear it proudly especially when I feel my sexiest. I wear make-up and grooming myself whenever possible is a priority. I never let down there grow like the National Forest, my nails and toenails are manicured even in the winter and my hair gets done twice a month. Is this considered being high-maintenance or is it something we’re supposed to do ‘if we have the means?’
Then there are my simple sisters who wear sneakers to work and change into pumps at the desk, have every color scrunchie in the Crayola box, wears sweats and flannel nightgowns to bed, hats, no make-up, not even a lip gloss and they say to me, “I don’t know how you do it, I’m too tired to do all that in the morning” “I just wanna get where I gotta go.”
My fellow mothers at my son’s school call me ‘Diva’. I always look good (patting myself on the back right now) and I dress up because I like it. It boosts my self-image, which is very important when dealing with others. And If I don’t feel good about myself first, then what’s the point…
