How to Be a Recessionista…

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past 8 years, you wouldn’t know that this Nation has been hit with the hardest of economic times since the Great Depression…Thank you Bush Administration!Whether you were directly or indirectly affected by the recession, IT IS HERE.  So how does one stay on top of their vogue game during these times? I’ll tell you how…it’s all about becoming a true ‘Recessionista.’

What’s In Vogue is being able to be fabulous without breaking your bank. Being an Adult is all about prioritizing your responsibilities and still being able to look good doing so.

There are just too many options and means to maintain a fresh look while the company you work for is going through their second merger.

This Recession has its’ pros and cons, but from a budget standpoint, we can benefit from this.  Everyone loves a SALE, right? If you are not taking advantage of the 50% – 70% off sales, you’re not living. I mean some of these sales are downright robbery, especially if you’re looking in the right places.
I’m not endorsing any stores or giving out coupons today but know YES, YOU CAN BE CHEAP & CHIC!

It’s not all about designer labels but how much you actually pay for something. When someone tells me how much they paid for something and it’s supposed to seem impressive, I look at them like a deer in headlights. Just because you have it doesn’t mean you should spend all of it on one item (financial responsibility is another topic).

I love shopping on a budget, period. My clothes are of quality and I purchase with the intention to have them or awhile…that’s one thing I pride myself on, never following fashion, but being a trendsetter where it counts and that means not compromising rent, groceries, or bills to upkeep my fabulousity.

JAYBIRD JB-100

June 30, 2009 Tech World No Comments

Yesterday, I took a look the Jaybird JB-100 over at the mobile communications arena.

The JB-100 is a very simple product in that they are headphones they are unique for the type of headphones they are… Wireless Stereo Bluetooth headphones.

I had a chance to give the JB-100 a test drive and I wasn’t blown away but I was definitely satisfied. The sound quality is very good (Especially for Bluetooth). I have been around the block a few times with various headphones from a slew of different manufacturers and the JB-100 has to be one of the best experiences thus far (Don’t be jealous Jawbone). Jaybirds product stands out because you can use this headphones for plain old talking and walkman like use, there is a dongle but, if your phone or mp3 player has A2DP functionally (stereo over bluetooth) you don’t need to do any thing but pair up your devices and go! I have a Nokia E71 and the simple fact that I would be able to walk around with this with virtually no wires and still be able to listen to music and talk on the phone when needed almost made me giddy!
The only thing I don’t like is jaybird didn’t have a plain old small ear bud and wired option (for my phone of course) but a very cool thing I would like to mention is that
They are working on a new product to be released in April the JB-200, which will have a smaller ear bud part for a better fit in the ear and, I was able to preview a prototype that would have a reverse fit to better accommodate those who wear glasses.

Check out a picture of the JB-100 boxed below.

Did you know that Freedom Fridays is the longest consistently running Friday Night Party?    For over 6 1/2 years!

The party was started by DJ’s Herbert, Marc Smooth and Cosi to give a break of the regular party that focused on the glamour of who you know, or what you got on, so freedom was the anti club party the the motto ‘shut up and dance’ www.thefreedompartynyc.com

What type of crowd? Everybody!

On June 26, 2009, Freedom Fridays dedicated their normally scheduled party to the memory of Michael Jackson. 900 people showed to rock out , to sing, dance and celebrate the legend we all loved. The music and the videos played gave the perfect blend to give people that instant relief of the shock and pain in their hearts felt from the great loss.

The Party is from 11pm – 4am
